Short Description / Purpose of Job
Respond promptly to emergency situations within GSO operation and projects areas including well pads, flowlines, trunkline, and associated infrastructures and equipment.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
- Respond to emergencies promptly and effectively within GSO operation and projects areas.
- Conduct scheduled inspections on all mobile and fixed installation firefighting infrastructure and equipment to ensure serviceability and operational integrity using established inspection checklists for the fire truck, response vehicle, response trailer and contents, fire hydrants, canons, hoses and accessories, foam systems and fire extinguishers etc.
- Submit inspection reports for ratification by line manager.
- Ensure timely corrective actions on damaged and malfunctioning equipment in collaboration with line manager.
- Execute minor repairs to equipment and apparatus, perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, and keep records of such actions.
- Maintain personal firefighting protective gear, accessories, and apparatus in serviceable condition i.e., BA sets.
- Respond to Fire Alarms and mobilize to the fire scene.
- Evaluate the fire situation and make determinations as to the best course of action for fighting the fire.
- Cordon-off the incident area once the fire has been extinguished and participate in the initial on scene incident investigation and information gathering.
- Perform salvage operations following the initial on scene investigation e.g., sweeping water and removing debris etc.
- Clean and inspect firefighting equipment and accessories after returning from a firefighting incident.
- Participate in the final fire event incident investigation and postmortem meeting.
- Respond to and render assistance in on, and offsite emergency events as instructed by incident commander or paramedic.
- Respond to emergency calls for specialized service such as hazardous material spills/releases, confined spaces rescue, extrication and technical rescues that include high angle, below grade, swift water, trench, and collapse rescue.
- Maintain the Fire Station, equipment and fire training grounds in a clean and orderly condition – good housekeeping.
- Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with SPT’ SHE policies and procedures.
- Attend firefighting and specialized training as required by SPT as part of personal development and enhancing SPT’ firefighting and ER capabilities.
- Maintain full understanding of current firefighting strategies for all types of fire such as gas plant jet fires, flammable liquid storage tank fires, residential fires, flammable and combustible liquid store fires, hazmat vehicle and commercial vehicle fires etc.
Formal Education
- High School / School Diploma or similar.
Min Experience
- 1+ years of experience as industrial firefighter
Language
- Portuguese
- English is an advantage
Certification & Professional Membership
- Fire Fighter 1 & Hazmat Awareness
- Fire Fighter 2 & Hazmat Operations (will be an advantage)
- First Aid Level 3
- Code CE Driver’s License is an advantage
