Vehicle Driver

Are you a skilled driver with a valid EC (code 14) driver’s license with PDP, and proven experience operating forklifts, front-end loaders, and lifting equipment? Do you
also have a basic mechanical understanding and a hands-on approach to problem-solving?
At NWK, we’re not just transporting goods – we’re moving agriculture forward! For over a century, NWK has supported farming communities through innovation, reliability, and
service excellence. If you’re a dedicated vehicle operator with a technical mindset, who wants to be part of a team that plays a vital role in agricultural production, this is your
opportunity to drive impact.
The core of your role: driving and supporting mechanical excellence
The main purpose of this dynamic role is to expertly operate a variety of light, heavy, and extra-heavy vehicles — including forklifts, front loaders, and lifting equipment —
to ensure seamless logistics and mechanical operations. When not engaged in transportation, you’ll provide essential technical support to our mechanical division through
hands-on maintenance, crucial repairs, fabrication, and construction work.
Your key responsibilities: a dual role of impact
On the road: transporting vital resources
• Diverse vehicle operation: Operate various vehicles to deliver goods to designated locations, handling a range of sizes and capacities.
• Accurate loading and offloading: Ensure precise and safe loading and offloading of goods, verifying quantities and conditions.
• Documentation and reporting: Meticulously record deliveries, obtain proof of receipt, and complete essential vehicle logbooks.
• Safety and compliance: Proactively monitor cargo stability and vehicle roadworthiness throughout trips, adhere strictly to all road safety and weight regulations,
and promptly report any incidents or damages.
• Load securement: Expertly secure loads to prevent shifting and ensure compliance with all transport regulations.
In the workshop: mechanical support and maintenance
• Lifting and handling: Safely secure and lift cargo using truck-mounted cranes or forklifts, operating all lifting equipment within rated capacities. Assist with rigging
and securing heavy parts or tools.
• Mechanical installation and construction: Provide crucial assistance with mechanical installations and the safe handling of components. This includes using
workshop machinery and tools for manufacturing parts, interpreting technical drawings for fabrication and assembly, and safely erecting and using scaffolding and
ladders.
• Maintenance and repairs: Support preventative and scheduled maintenance on workshop machinery. Assist in evaluating and repairing mechanical components
and ensure all workshop equipment and tools are maintained in excellent working condition.
• Worksite safety and support: Evaluate and secure work areas for safety, perform cleaning and maintenance of the worksite, assist with scaffolding setup and
equipment movement, and conduct essential risk assessments.
• Communication: Clearly communicate with silo managers and supervisors regarding load and delivery expectations, ensuring smooth operations.
What you’ll bring: your skills and experience
Minimum requirements:
• Education: Grade 10 or a higher qualification.
• Licensing: Valid EC (code 14) driver’s licence with Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• Equipment proficiency: Three (3) to four (4) years’ proven experience operating forklifts, front-end loaders, and other lifting equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude: Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to interpret and follow technical instructions and diagrams.
Preferred skills and attributes:
• Responsible and safety-conscious: A strong commitment to safety and a highly responsible work ethic.
• Practical problem-solver: A hands-on, practical approach to solving challenges.
• Team player and independent worker: Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a collaborative member of a technical team.
• Communication: Sound communication skills in both Afrikaans and English.
• Adaptability: A strong willingness to assist with diverse mechanical and construction-related duties as needed.
