Distribution Centre Planner

The position reports to the National Planning and Procurement Manager.

Your responsibilities will include:

Financial reporting:

  • Prepare DC monthly income statement
  • Prepare DC month end journals to ensure all cost allocated accurately
  • Prepare cost variance analysis
  • Process all DC invoices for payment and maintain a real time overview of expenses versus budget
  • Participate in annual budget process and long-term planning
  • Maintain the purchase order tracking tool to control all expenses to align with approved budget
  • Prepare and present reports/dashboards on trends, issues and solutions

Planning: Workforce Management

  • Develop and maintain monthly, weekly, daily staff plans and schedules
  • Calculate resource requirements for the DC
  • Coordinate temporary staff requirements in line with approved DC plan
  • Propose cost reduction initiatives while maintaining productivity.
  • Manage and maintain the relationship with Temporary Employment Services providers.
  • Hold regular meetings to align and engage all departmental managers to the approved plan
  • Maintain and update SOPs to align with current business practice
  • Manage and escalate weekly/monthly exceptions against planned outputs and timelines

Procurement:

  • Design and manage internal and external processes, standards and SLAs
  • Procure all consumables in line with the agreed plans and schedules, place orders and process all documentation
  • Procure packaging materials in line DC with requirements
  • Manager the relationship with current suppliers and co-ordinate the purchase order processing and delivery of goods and services.
  • participate in RFP and RFQ for DC resource and service requirements

DC Administration:

  • Responsible for the DC administration
  • Provide data driven insights and recommendations to improve workforce efficiency and quality
  • Develop continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, productivity and customer services.
  • Coordinate and report on Zendesk ticket resolution

Qualification and experience

  • BCom or Btech Accounting/Cost Accounting/Logistics
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience within DC operations
  • People management experience
  • Previous experience with WMS systems such as Oracle, SAP, Logfire or similar
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office packages
  • Previous experience in mini project management advantageous
  • Comfortable with change and excellent team player
  • Comfortable with learning and adapting to new systems
  • Own Transport preferable
