Mining Superintendent

Introduction
An exciting position has become vacant at our Tawana Hotazel Mine, in the Northern Cape. The Mining Superintendent is responsible for overseeing day-to-day mining operations, managing production activities, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and optimizing resource utilization in the South African mining industry. This role plays a crucial part in achieving production targets, maintaining operational efficiency, and promoting a safe work environment.

Duties & Responsibilities
Enforce safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and incidents

Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify and address hazards.

Promote awareness and establish appropriate departmental targets to prevent harm

Ensure all hazards and sources of loss are identified, evaluated, and controlled in accordance with SHE Policies and the Safety Management Standards

Take all reasonable measures to ensure the health and safety of employees and proper discipline at the Mine

Supervise and coordinate mining activities to ensure efficient production.

Monitor equipment performance and maintenance to maximize uptime.

Implement operational plans to meet production targets and quality standards.

Compile daily and weekly mining reports for the operation.

Consistently apply workplace management procedures to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, agreed values and behaviors and Code of Conduct

Support effective employee relations practices

Ensure employees are trained and held accountable for roles

Optimize resource allocation, including manpower, equipment, and materials.

Monitor and control operational costs to maximize efficiency and profitability.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications:

Grade 12

Blasting Certificate for Open Cast Mines or equivalent

Explosives Responsible Certification (Advantageous)

Mining Engineering Degree/Diploma (Advantageous)

Code 8 Driver’s Licence

Experience:

7 years minimum experience in Surface Mining

Management of Diverse Teams

3 years minimum supervisory experience
